godspeed-eraserhead connection?

I watched "Eraserhead" for the first time last night while in this cough medicine/feverish daze.
One thing that was very clear to me, was a Godspeed relationship.
Take for instance the setting: a semi-post-apocalyptic-like, toxic industrial zone, very similar to Godspeed's secret place (I forget what they call it, but their web site made mention that this is where their pictures are taken typically).
Also, of course, the sounds: droning, machine-like hums that only sometimes morph into what almost sounds like music, but often just fade into nothing. Godspeed used this more on F#A#, but dabbled with it on Slow Riot and Lift Yr. Skinny Fists.

Any opinions?
If you're interested, "Eraserhead" is a REALLY weird movie and I would suggest hitting one of Lynch's tamer flicks first to see if you can digest it, specifically "Blue Velvet."

I freakin love this band! They are so amazing and so inspiring that I wrote and shot a short film to one of their songs. I am trying to enter this film into various festivals, but first I need their music release. I tried contacting the record label, but that seemed doubtful and unhelpful. I am determined to get them to view my film and hopefully sign the release on it. DOES ANY ONE KNOW HOW TO CONTACT ANY OR ALL OF THE BAND MEMBERS DIRECTLY? Thanks so much!

Hey, just wanted to let you all know, I'm the PD of a web radio station that went online this week called Internet Public Radio. There are some ambient tracks including Sigur Ros, Godspeed You Black Emperor! and Rachels.

music to die to/with

It came back to me recently, but I was driving on this little, desolate highway through the Fort Apache Indian Reservation towards the White Mountains a few weeks ago and I put on Godspeed's "Lift Yr. Skinny Fists..." (the first track on the first CD). For whatever reason, I realized that this was the music I'd want to listen to just before or while dying.
Typically when I go out by myself into the desert, or hit some spectacular vista on a hike, I'll listen to Air, Boards of Canada, Aphex, or something introspective enough to force me into interpretations. Godspeed is different though. Instead of drawing you into the music, they seem to draw you out; pushing you until you feel more human than mortal, and completely concious of your place in the world. Godspeed isn't really even my favorite band, but they always have more of an emotional impact on me than anyone else I've heard.
Strangely enough, a few minutes after this I got pulled over for speeding, and was let off with a warning. The whole experience just blew me back, maybe because it was one of those vivid thoughts that will always remain with me.
Just a story.
