I freakin love this band! They are so amazing and so inspiring that I wrote and shot a short film to one of their songs. I am trying to enter this film into various festivals, but first I need their music release. I tried contacting the record label, but that seemed doubtful and unhelpful. I am determined to get them to view my film and hopefully sign the release on it. DOES ANY ONE KNOW HOW TO CONTACT ANY OR ALL OF THE BAND MEMBERS DIRECTLY? Thanks so much!
P.S. If you want to check out the film:

Re: GSYBE contact info?
Thu, April 7, 2005 - 4:01 PMHey Adam,
I just wanted to tell you I really liked your film - I wished it was longer, but I really liked it and in my opinion think it pretty appropriate for godspeed's music. Nice composition, crops and mystery...
keep creating!

Wed, April 13, 2005 - 12:59 PMHey Adam-
I really enjoyed the work. What medium did you use? It's always hard to tell when something has been compressed to play online.
In the past I've worked with a friend and shot more than one thing that's been edited/timed to inspiring music or as a "music video" along these lines. Usually, when you're not talking about some arena rock band the best place to start looking for contact is the label. Godspeed's label is pretty small and likely you'll get response. Just write something like you did here and state your intentions for the work ( I want to submit this but want your permission, I want to put this on my website), or a lack of intentions (I just did it because I like your music).
I've always had grest response from bands who have a nice fan base but aren't uber famous, like Godspeed. It really depends. I think your work captures the tension of the moments in that particular song - good job!
I'm with you, very cinematically inspiring, GYBE, love love love them for that. They're great "driving and thinking" music for me. I used to drive along this one stretch of road over and over listening to the song you chose working out a creative project idea I had. The road was right between LAX and the ocean, with a "butterfly preserve" between the two, right in the jet's flight path. Something about that combination of elements worked like a living film for that song - and I was highly inspired. Caught there, between man and nature, driving back and forth in the sun. Good times.
Have you seen American Nightmare? It's a documentary about specific American Horror films and the socio-political place they came from, etc. They use GYBE's music and it's PERFECT - GREAT documentary, I highly recommend checking it out. Seeing leatherface swing his chainsaw around in the early sunrise light to GYBE music was nothing short of amazing to me!
Good luck. -

Re: GSYBE contact info?
Thu, April 14, 2005 - 7:49 PMThank a lot for the responce. I'm for sure going to check out American Nightmare- thanks for the suggestion. I have actually gotten in touch with GYBE since I made this post, and they were pretty cool about letting me use the music. Although they said I could use the song, I was a bit disappointed because they didn't really give me any feedback on the film- Oh well. Oh, and I shot on Mini-DV (an XL-1S) to answer your question. Thanks again for the reply.

Tue, May 31, 2005 - 2:14 AMgreat work, man.
that was intense!! loved the ending...I was amazed at how you got that final scene to represent so well the impact of the change in the song without any movement and just by the sensory overload of all the photos.
good luck at the festivals.
